David Adix, 1943-2018

Funeral services for David G. Adix,  74, of Alden, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mansfield Lutheran Church. The Rev. Don Rose will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by Alden servicemen’s organizations. Interment will be at Mansfield Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

David died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Community in Albert Lea.

David Adix

David George Adix was born May 17, 1943, in Kiester, the son of Max and Maurine (Brekke) Adix. He grew up in Mansfield and graduated from Kiester High School in 1961.

David served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany.

On Sept. 2, 1967, he was united in marriage to Loretta “Laurie” Mae Schaper at North Blue Earth Church of rural Bricelyn. David was a farmer taking great pride caring for the land and livestock. He worked at the state park and then 15 years at Albert Lea Seed House in maintenance and shipping.

David was a member of Mansfield Lutheran Church, Mansfield Lutheran Church Cemetery Association, Alden American Legion and Cattlemen’s Association. He enjoyed welding, woodworking, conservation, cap collecting, pen collecting, visiting with friends and telling jokes. He volunteered with 4-H. David could often be seen riding in the ranger checking on thechurch cemetery and looking for deer around the section.

David is survived by his wife, Loretta, of 50 years; children Brian (Jenny) Adix and Lynnette (Jeff) Jenson; grandchildren Kaiden, Kerynn and Kohen Jenson; mother-in-law, Betty Schaper; sisters Maxine (Omer) Hamer and Kathleen Adix; sisters-in-law Debra Adix, Lois (Steven) Phyillaier, Sandy (Scott) Breberg and Debra (Glen) Salthe; brother-in-law, Roger (Joyce) Schaper; nieces and nephews Jolynn (Richard) Tautges, Stephanie (Ryan) Engebretson, Tyler Adix (fiance Michelle Fischer), Adam Schaper, Chad (Sarah Jo) Schaper, Julie (Pete) Phipps, Daniel (Cheryl) Phyillaier, Crystal (Travis) Ramer, Monica (Rich) Gray, Matt (Jessica Madison) Johnson and Melissa (Ryan) Brodsho and their families; aunts and uncles Christabel (Al) Jacobs, Ann Adix and Joyce Brekke; and many cousins and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents Max and Maurine; father-in-law, Theron Schaper; brother, Steven Adix; and brother-in-law, Ronnie (Julie) Schaper.
