Funeral services for Doris E. Almquist, 81, of Albert Lea will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Clayton Balsley will officiate. Doris was called home to be with her heavenly father Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Doris Elaine Almquist was born March 18, 1936, in Bagley, the daughter of Benjamin and Evelyn (Samuelson) Porter. She grew up in the Bagley area.

Doris married Dennis Almquist in Detroit Lakes.

Doris was a wonderful homemaker, mother and wife.

She enjoyed music, dancing and going to the casino. Most of all, Doris loved time with her family. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a contagious laugh.

Doris is survived by her children Sandra Almquist, Doyle Almquist, Doug (Julie) Knudson, JoAnne (Douglas) Mathison, Kaleyne Almquist and Todd Askelson; grandchildren Jade (Karel) Malek, Alexander (Anna Keesling) Mitchell, Cody (Sarah) Barnes, Tara Almquist, Scott (Jen) Knudson, Hannah Knudson, Kalaria Orozco and Marissa Askelson; great-grandchildren Chase and Chelsea Malek, Cameron and Zayne Mitchell, Grace Schindler, Lillian and Addison Barnes, Sander and Jaya Knudson, Khari Knudson and Ethan Hoeve; brother, Donald Porter, and his children Eugene, Darla and Cheryl; and brother, Daniel (Ann) Tollefson, and their daughter, Whitney (Michael) Huey, and their children Zion and Sky.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents and former husband, Dennis.
