Garage fire causes $70,000 in damage

A garage fire Sunday morning in Albert Lea caused an estimated $70,000 in damage to vehicles and property.

When Albert Lea fire crews and police arrived at 1786 Tiger Ridge Drive at about 1:30 a.m., the fire was in the garage. Crews reportedly breached two entry doors to the garage and extinguished the fire.

The family at the house made contact with a neighbor who sheltered them when first responders arrived on scene, according to the Fire Department.

No injuries were reported.

Damage was contained to the garage, with the exception of a door leading to the living area and smoke damage deemed minor to the rest of the structure.

The garage’s contents were destroyed in the fire.

The scene was cleared at about 2:45 a.m.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office was called in to investigate, and the fire is under investigation. Gold Cross Ambulance and the Salvation Army assisted on scene.

The primary taxpayers of the address are Anthony Conway and Janet Conway.
