Merton Morreim, 1928-2018

Funeral services for Merton C. Morreim, 89, of Albert Lea will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by local servicemen’s organizations. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church Monday. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Merton Morreim

Merton died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.

Merton Clifford Morreim was born March 12, 1928, the son of Otto and Nina (Bickford) Morreim. Born and raised in Albert Lea, Merton attended Albert Lea High School.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean conflict. After his discharge, he returned to Albert Lea and worked at Wilson & Co. until his retirement.

Merton was a member at First Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He loved working on cars, bowling and spending time outdoors. Merton enjoyed spending his mornings and afternoons having coffee with his friends. He especially loved his family and made it to everyone’s events.

Merton is survived by nephew and nieces Larry Hensche, Paul (Beatrice) Hensche, Susan (Paul) Kleinschrodt, Phillip (Cathy) Hensche, Timothy (Jana) Hensche, Lynda Baseman, Rebecca (Dennis) Boone, Theresa (Loren) Kaiser, Norma (Jay) Corbin, Michael (Cheryl) Morreim, Leslie (Joyce) Morreim, Robert (Debbie) Morreim and Richard (Karen) Morreim; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Merton was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Marvin (Darlene) Morreim, Kenneth (Bonnie) Morreim and Norma (Arnold) Hensche; nephew, Kenneth Otto; special cousin, Clair Dahl; and niece and nephew-in-law Sue Hensche and Duaine Baseman.
