TOPS MN Chapter 979

The TOPS MN Chapter 979 has announced its November and December winners.

November division winners are Mary Louise Wirkus, Division 2; Barb Solberg, Division 3; Betty Gavle, Division 4; and Daniel Wirkus, male winner.

Weekly best losers were Mary Louise Wirkus, week one; Solberg, week three; and Mary Louise Wirkus, week four.

Lottery contest winners were LeAnn Jones, Katie Koziolek, Betty Johnson and Lois Goodnature.

December division winners are Mary Louise Wirkus, Division 2; Rose Rolands, Division 3; Gavle, Division 4; and Daniel Wirkus, male winner.

Weekly best losers were Daniel Wirkus, week one; Rolands, week 2; Barb Soper, week three; and Daniel Wirkus, week four.

Mary Louise Wirkus received a paper and coin shower.

TOPS — take off pounds sensibly — is a nonprofit weight loss support group. There is no diet plan, but support with others on the journey to health and wellness. TOPS MN Chapter 979 meets at 9 a.m. Thursdays in the Albert Lea Senior Center in Skyline Plaza to weigh in and learn about healthy lifestyles.

Duplicate Bridge

Duplicate Bridge was played by 13 teams Jan. 30 at the Senior Center in Austin. Winners were Gail and Ray Schmidt, first place; Joyce Crowe and Millie Seiver, second place; Larry Crowe and Bill Momsen, third place; Barb Engebretson and Orrin Roisen, fourth place; Barb Rofshus and John Laurie, fifth place; and Chuck Borneman and Jim Fisher, sixth place.

Duplicate Bridge was played by 11 teams Jan. 31. Winner were Eunice Michaelis and Barb Engebretson, first place; Dave Ring and Orrin Roisen, second place; Loren Cleland and Bud Higgins, third place; John Laurie and Rick Stroup, fourth place; and Vandy Newman and Ron Peters, fifth place.

Game times are at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and noon on Wednesdays at the Senior Center in Austin. Players come from as far away as Adams, Albert Lea, Austin, Rose Creek, Northwood and Mason City. The group welcomes new players. Participants can bring a partner and show up at the scheduled times, or those who need a partner may call 507-437-2750.
