Sharon Seedorf, 1941-2018

Sharon Kaye (Larson) Seedorf, 76, of Woodbury, formerly of Albert Lea, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, while at her winter home in Lake Havasu, Arizona.

Sharon was born at home April 26, 1941, in Freeborn County. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1958. Sharon married Gary Seedorf in 1963 at Grace Lutheran Church and they lived outside of Alden until moving to Barstow, California, in 1965.

After living a few years in California, Gary and Sharon moved back to Albert Lea with Brian and Ann. In 1974, they moved to Blooming Prairie after purchasing a hobby farm to fulfill their dream of living in the country and farming. Sharon also worked at Hometown Insurance Agency in Blooming Prairie and State Farm in Albert Lea.

In 2000 she purchased an Allstate agency, which she ran independently until her retirement. During retirement, Sharon and Gary enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren, family and friends. They also enjoyed spending the winter months at their home in Lake Havasu and having family and friends visit. Sharon took great pleasure in her flowers, volunteering, shopping, entertaining and spending time with her grandchildren.

Sharon is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Gary, who passed away in May 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents Harland and Stella (Honsey) Larson; and one grandson, Tyler Behnken.

Sharon is survived by her son, Brian (Julie) Seedorf, of Savage; daughter, Ann (Jay) Behnken, of Woodbury; one granddaughter, Hannah Behnken; and four grandsons, Jack and Griffin Seedorf and Jacob (Emily) and Adam Behnken. Sharon is also survived by one brother, Roger (Gabina) Larson; one sister, Becky (Jim) Cox; and several nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life and faith services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, 918 Garfield Ave. in Albert Lea. The Rev. Paul Dean from Resurrection Lutheran Church in Woodbury will officiate. Visitation will begin at noon. Family and friends are invited to stay for a comforting Norwegian meal and fellowship following the celebration of life service. Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea is handling the arrangements.
