In accordance with a proclamation issued by President Donald Trump, Gov. Mark Dayton has directed all United States flags and Minnesota flags be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in the state of Minnesota from sunrise until sunset Friday in honor and remembrance of the Rev. Billy Graham.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association was founded in Minneapolis in 1950 by Graham. The BGEA remained in Minneapolis until 1999, when it moved to Graham’s home state of North Carolina. Graham also served as president of the University of Northwestern in St. Paul between 1948 and 1952.
