USC junior’s hopes of making school history still possible

ST. PAUL — United South Central junior Blake Legred started his journey to achieve school history Friday at the Minnesota state tournament.

Legred, the No. 2 seed in the 126-pound Class A bracket, cruised through his first-round match to beat Ben Salo of New York Mills by major decision, 12-0. He will wrestle again in the quarterfinals later today against Carter Sorenson (31-7) from Fosston/Bagley.

Should Legred win a second state championship, he’d be the first wrestler to do so in USC history.
