Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea recently earned a deficiency-free Life Safety Code survey. This annual Minnesota Department of Health facility survey involves representatives from the Minnesota Fire Marshal’s office that inspects facilities for compliance with the Life Safety Code.
According to a press release, the Life Safety Code is a set of fire protection requirements designed to provide a reasonable degree of safety from fire. It covers construction, protection and operational features designed to provide safety from fire, smoke and panic.
The Health Care Facilities Code is intended to provide minimum requirements for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, performance and safe practices for facilities, material, equipment and appliances.
The press release said the codes are revised periodically and are published by the National Fire Protection Association, which was founded in 1896 to promote the science and improve the methods of fire protection.
“We always try to take a structured and proactive approach in Life Safety Code compliance, which helps us to continually improve the way we care for and engage with those we serve,” said Campus Administrator Katie Davis.
