Mitchell Wakefield, 1962-2018

Funeral services for Mitchell Wakefield will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Sean Forde will officiate. Interment will be at Freeborn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Mitchell died Thursday, March 29, 2018, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Mitchell Wakefield

Mitchell John Wakefield “Big Guy” was born Jan. 20, 1962, in Albert Lea, to Sharon and Clyde Wakefield. Mitchell was a confirmed member of Congregational Church of Freeborn, where he was a deacon. Mitchell was a member of Freeborn 4-H Club, where he showed cattle and sheep from third grade to his senior year.

In his younger years Mitchell enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he was an avid reader all his life. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, telling jokes and watching mystery and Western movies. He had an extensive model farm toy collection. He loved everything Western and lived the best cowboy life he could.

Mitchell is survived by his mother, Sharon, of Albert Lea; brothers Lance (Sherrie) Wakefield of Pemberton, Vince (Kristine) Wakefield of Albert Lea and Tracy (Mark) Lamey of Anchorage, Alaska; nieces and nephews Caitlyn, Kylie and Carter Wakefield of Pemberton, Alexander and Isaac Wakefield of Albert Lea, Christopher, Remington and Gabriel Lamey of Anchorage and Mikhayla (Andy) Nguyen of South Korea; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mitchell was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Wakefield, and grandparents, John and Margaret Osheim and Merle and Ardis Wakefield.
