Local business changes name, expands its rental offerings

Along with warmer weather, this year’s summer will bring a season of new offerings for a local business.

Mayer Rentals, a 13-year-old business previously dubbed Party Jumper Rentals, changed its name to reflect the expansion in offerings, which now includes all-day water leisure equipment rentals like kayaks, towables, ZUP boards, wakeboards and ParadisePads. Mayer Rentals will continue to rent out its two Sno Cone machines and, of course, its four bounce houses.

Owner Nicole Mayer said the business is still adding inventory and plans to continue expanding.

“We thought there would be a demand for just easy rentals,” said Dan Mayer, Nicole Mayer’s husband who helps with the business along with their son, Jordan Mayer.

They started renting out bounce houses after being repeat renters themselves for the annual summer party they held. Nicole Mayer said the family rented bounce houses from a man in Blue Earth. She asked if he would consider selling the bounce houses, and the Mayers purchased his. They continue to gather more, she said.

Nicole Mayer said the rentals are used for a mix between individual and public events. But no matter what event the rental business is providing for, all proceeds go back into the community.

“We just believe that you’re supposed to give back in life … and that’s what we use this business for,” she said.

Some of the family’s favorite organizations to donate to are the Humane Society, Relay for Life and the Salvation Army’s angel tree project. They also donate to benefits for families in need.

“That’s kind of the fun part as a family is as we get money in, we get to decide where it goes,” Mayer said.

In addition to providing free use to their church, Crossroads, the Mayers “donate” their bounce houses about 20 times a year, Nicole Mayer said.

Both Dan and Nicole Mayer said it is fun to see the families using their rentals having a good time.

“The kids love us,” Nicole Mayer said. “When they come and get a bounce house from us they’re so excited, and when they return a bounce house they’re exhausted but they still had a really fun day.”

Additionally, Dan Mayer said the family would like to make bounce houses affordable for people to use.

“We just want to continue doing this and make money so we can continue blessing the community,” Nicole Mayer said.
