Bohemian Brick Hall open house

Czechoslovakia is turning 100, and the Bohemian Brick Hall in Glenville is celebrating with an open house. The event will include a performance from a St. Paul-based Czech and Slovak folk-dancing group and a brief presentation of the hall’s history. There will be coffee, water and kolaches. The open house runs from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Bohemian Brick Hall. The dancers begin their hour-long performance at 1:30 p.m.

Two artists, one show

Local painter Susanne Crane and Washington, D.C.-based fiber artist Andrea Blackmon are still squaring off at the Freeborn County Arts Initiative in the “Two Artists Squaring Off” exhibit, which runs through June 23. This weekend, the exhibit is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday. See the pair interpret the same 15 themes in both similar and dissimilar ways — all in a square format.

4

Family mystery movie

Add a little intrigue to your family night out. Once again, the Albert Lea Family Y and Albert Lea Parks and Recreation Department are partnering up for a family mystery movie. What’s the movie? It’s a mystery. The movie begins playing at 7 p.m. at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center.

Richie Lee & the Fabulous 50s

Richie will handle the rock if you roll down to the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center Saturday. Richie Lee & the Fabulous 50s share their love of early rock ‘n’ roll as the group makes its way through the music of the 50s. Bass player and vocalist Dennis Niedert said audience members can expect more vocal harmonies and a wider scope of music in their set. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center.
