Oney was born July 15, 1941, in Lake Mills, to Gilbert and Margaret Bidne. She attended school in Scarville and finished at Lake Mills High School in the class of 1959. Oney then received her Associate of Arts degree from Waldorf College in 1961.

Oney worked as a secretary in Minneapolis. That was when she met Duane Hanson. They both shared the same love of country music and were married on Aug. 9, 1963, at North Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Scarville. Soon after, they moved to the Bidne family farm, where they spent most of their married life.

Oney held many jobs over the years. She has worked at Stitchcraft, Winnebago County Home, Lake Mills Fertilizer Plant, Lake Mills Nursing Home, Lake Mills Co-op Creamery and the Scarville Post Office.

Oney was an active member of North Prairie Lutheran Church, where she served in many capacities. She enjoyed league bowling, snowmobilers club, River City Sweet Adelines chorus, birthday club and many card clubs over the years.

Oney was a lifelong crafter. She did everything from needlework, toll painting, ceramics, quilting, photography, knitting, crocheting and most treasured are her many scrapbooks she created for each of her grandchildren. She has left her mark in many ways for others to treasure.

Throughout her life with Duane, they enjoyed gatherings with family that revolved around music. They also traveled to Branson and enjoyed watching country, gospel and bluegrass music together on Saturday evenings. After they became grandparents, they enjoyed cheering on their grandchildren as they participated in their many events.

Oney’s family was her most prized possession.

She is survived by her daughter, Deb (Troy) Heller of Tripoli, Iowa; son, Mike (Beth) Hanson of Lake Mills; son, Corey Hanson of White Bear Lake; and six grandchildren, Kyle (Carli) Heller, Kirstin Heller, Kolby Heller, Keely Heller, T.J. Hanson and Hannah Hanson; and great-granddaughters Cayleigh Heller, Mylah Heller and Victoria Heller to be born in August; and brother-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Duane Hanson; parents Gilbert and Margaret Bidne; her in-laws Edmund and Sarah Hanson; infant brothers Wayne and William; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
