An Albert Lea Level 3 sex offender was charged Friday with a misdemeanor domestic abuse no-contact order violation.

Cody Padraic Trott, 28, was arrested after a violation of an order for protection was reported at 3:34 p.m. Thursday at 805 E. Main St.

Judge Ross Leuning released Trott on his own recognizance, contingent on him submitting to a urine analysis; signing a waiver of extradition; not possessing or using alcohol, controlled substances or drugs; and following other court requirements.

A settlement conference in the file is scheduled for June 21.

Trott was charged in February with 17 domestic abuse no-contact order violations, but those charges were dismissed May 1.

In a separate file, Trott was charged with domestic assault by strangulation, threats of violence, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, fifth-degree controlled substance possession and domestic assault in January after allegedly strangling someone he knew.

An omnibus hearing in that file was May 1.
