NRHEG clay target team maintains conference lead

Team effort is the key to doing well in conference standings, and that is what the marksmen of NRHEG saw during week two of their spring league competition.

The top of the conference scores would see dominance from the second-place United South Central team as they had 12 shooters with scores of 45/50 or higher, to just six Panther shooters.

However, the bottom of the NRHEG squad once again saw their lowest score beat eight shooters from United South Central.

The result from top to bottom gave the Panthers a nearly 400-point advantage and a widened lead in the conference.

“This is the kind of team strength we need to do well in conference play,” said head coach Dan Sorum.  “But, we will need to shore up those top scores if we want to be in competition at the state championship in Alexandria in June.”

The team was lead by Chancellor Olson and Caden Beauvais, each who shot a 49/50.  Evan Dobberstein was close behind with a 48 and Aaron Olson scored a strong 47.

The team now has seven shooters in the top-25 males for the conference and one female in the top-25.

Dobberstein and Olson currently sit at a 23.5 average for a round of 25.  They are joined by Dalton Kraay, Beuvais, Ralph Roesler, Noah Alinder and Owen Prechel in the pack of 25.

Hanna Sack had a strong night to move her way into the female top 25.

No shooters currently reside in the state’s top-100, which is what is required to qualify for the MSHSL individual state tournament.

However,  Dobberstein and Olson are both poised to move up with more strong weeks like this one.

The team takes to the range again on Monday.  The team has regular shoots each Monday at the Owatonna Gun Club starting at 4 p.m.
