The Albert Lea Tribune has promoted sales representative Jess Glassel to the position of retail advertising manager, effective June 28.

Glassel, 36, has worked at the Tribune since 2015.

“I’m excited to start a new chapter in my life,” said Glassel, who grew up in Albert Lea.

Glassel will replace Angie Hoffman, who is chief financial officer of Robert Hoffman Realty, a real estate brokerage and property management firm that she and her husband, Robert, own. She handles bookkeeping, accounting, compliance and staff for the growing company.

“Although I am sad to see Angie leave, I’m excited that she and her husband have built a sustainable business for Albert Lea and I wish her well,” said Tribune Publisher Crystal Miller. “Jess is going to be a terrific asset to the Tribune as the advertising manager. She is a natural leader and already knows the inner workings of the position. She has always excelled in taking care of customers, she is active in the community and is always ready to learn more. We are lucky to have her.”

Glassel has trained for the position for the last year, which helps to make the transition seamless, Miller said.

Prior to coming to the Tribune, Glassel was a paraprofessional through Albert Lea Area Schools.

She serves on the board of directors for The Children’s Center and volunteers at the Humane Society of Freeborn County.

She is married to her husband, Dennis, an Albert Lea firefighter, and has two daughters, Ryleigh and Peyton. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

She said she loves the sense of community that is in Albert Lea.

“I love how we all come together for one another, whether it’s a celebration or tragedy,” she said. “I am glad to call Albert Lea my home.”

She said she has some new ideas for her position at the newspaper, and her favorite part about working at the Tribune is that every day is something new and fun.

“I’ve never had a job where I am actually excited to come to work every day,” she said.
