The Fourth of July is one of the best holidays to celebrate in Albert Lea.

Whether you’re attending the Third of July Parade, the Bayside Ski Club show, the annual fireworks display, the annual car show or other events with family and friends, the holiday is one with lots to do in the area.

In the middle of all of the activities you may take part in, make sure to take a minute to remember why we have Independence Day in the first place.

It’s a time to celebrate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence and the legal separation of the Thirteen Colonies from Great Britain in 1776. It is also a time to celebrate the freedoms we are able to enjoy living here.

Though there is a lot of conflict right now in our country, don’t take for granted how blessed we are to live in this country. Remember all who have fought for us to enjoy these freedoms.
