A future Riverland Community College student will be financing portions of his toolbox thanks to a $500 check courtesy of Nuss Truck & Equipment out of Rochester.

According to Nuss Truck & Equipment President and CEO Robert Nuss, the company had three scholarships for grabs for attendees at a June 29 event. Dakota Mancilman, who will start at Riverland Community College in the fall, was one of the three.

He said he will be using the money to help start his toolbox.

“Ever since I was little, I’ve always been tinkering with things,” he said.

Nuss said there is a shortage of technicians in the field and a bright future in the industry for those getting into it. Riverland diesel technology instructor Doug Blom agreed.

“The need is out there and the industry is such a huge thing that we have to encourage young people to go down this track,” Blom said.
