Construction to cause lane closure

Published 9:29 pm Wednesday, August 29, 2018

Lane closures are expected to begin Tuesday on Isterstate 90 between Minnesota Highway 13 and Freeborn County Road 46 near Petran as crews pave crossover lanes, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The passing lanes of eastbound and westbound I-90 will be closed to traffic. Crews will build and pave crossover lanes on I-90 at Highway 13 and Freeborn County roads 22, 26 and 46. All work should be complete by mid-October, weather permitting.

This is preparation for a 12-mile concrete paving project next year on I-90. Beginning in spring 2019, crews will re-pave westbound I-90 with concrete between Highway 13 in Albert Lea and Freeborn County Road 46 near Petran.

Workers will also re-deck the westbound bridge over Freeborn County Road 46. The crossover lanes being built now will allow westbound traffic to travel in a single lane in the separated eastbound lanes adjacent to the eastbound I-90 traffic when paving begins in 2019.
