Doris Loberg, 1932-2018

Memorial services for Doris Lorraine (Jones) Loberg of Ellendale will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Saturday. Interment will be in Geneva Cemetery in Geneva.

Doris Loberg passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.

Doris was born to Merrills and Dagmar (Lindahl) Jones on Feb. 3, 1932, and was the youngest of their six children. She attended elementary school in Geneva and was part of Ellendale High School’s graduating class of 1950. She married Raymond Loberg on Feb. 3, 1952, and they raised their three children in the Ellendale and Geneva areas. She was a lifelong member of Community Lutheran Church in Geneva.

She was a wife, mother and homemaker who worked outside of the home intermittently in Geneva and Ellendale businesses. Her hobby was crocheting and she had an incredible talent for the most intricate patterns. Family members treasure samples of her beautiful handiwork.

She was an avid participant in local craft fairs and many local residents have examples of her work in their homes.

Doris is survived by her husband of 66 years, Raymond, who lives on their farm in rural Ellendale; daughters Nanci (Jim) Tuggle and Cindy Smolinski, who make their homes in Colorado; and son, Rick (Ginny), who lives in Albert Lea. She was also a grandma to six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Rae-Anne (Jeremy) Reichow, Madison and Isabelle  of Brighton, Colorado, Leigh (Tony) Tucker and Layne and Max of Brighton, Jordan (Mira) Rich of Littleton, Colorado, Lindsay Smolinski of Broomfield, Colorado, Cam Loberg (Stacey), Cooper and Lexi of Duluth, and Nathan Loberg (fiancee, Lisa, and her daughter, Evie) of Lakeville.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.
