Man pleads not guilty to sending sexual photos to 14-year-old

An Albert Lea man who allegedly sent sexual pictures to a 14-year-old boy pleaded not guilty Thursday in Freeborn County District Court.

Jesse Val-Lee Johansen, 27, is charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Court documents state Johansen was charged after an Albert Lea detective was dispatched to an Albert Lea address Aug. 2 after parents of the 14-year-old found “inappropriate” photographs and messages coming from a 27-year-old man.

Court documents state pictures and text messages sent to the alleged victim’s cellphone were sexual.

Judge Steven Schwab set conditional bail for Johnson at $10,000, contingent on him not possessing or using pornographic or sexually explicit material; not possessing or using alcohol, controlled substances or drugs; and following other court requirements.

An omnibus hearing is scheduled for Aug. 29.

As of Friday afternoon, Johansen was not in custody.
