The Tiger offense made a couple of big plays in the game, the first coming on a 70-yard pass completion from junior Logan Howe to senior Spencer Doyle.

The second Tiger touchdown came in the third quarter from junior J.J. Mucha Owens, when he took off for a 60-yard rushing score.

Junior Ismael Cabezas added three more points to the Tiger’s total with a 26-yard field goal in the third quarter.

Head coach Corey Black said he thought the team played pretty well, but they gave up a few big plays in key situations that separated the scoreboard.

“We showed that we can be competitive with them talent-wise,” Black said. “It just came down to execution and a few big plays that they were able to pull off when we had them in tough spots.

“We need to take care of the things we can do on our own, such as turnovers and penalties. If we don’t put ourselves in positions where we’re scrambling from behind we can compete with any team that we play.”

The Tigers drop to 0-1 to start the season and will play again on Friday, when they open up their home schedule with a game against St. Peter.
