5 things to do this weekend

1. Autumn in the Village

Stop by the Freeborn County Historical Museum and Village on Saturday for the annual Autumn in the Village.

The event is slated from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be demonstrations, crafts, photos and access to all of the museum exhibits.

Food and photos will also be available for purchase, along with pay-to-play yard games.

Tickets are $7.50 for adults or $2 for children ages 12 to 18. The event is free for museum members and children younger than 12.

 

2. Tabernacle Experience

The Tabernacle Experience will begin Friday at Freeborn County Fairgrounds and continue through Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

According to its website, “one step inside the tabernacle courtyard will translate you into Old Testament times. You will experience a day in the life of an Old Testament priest as you engage in the duties and rituals within the tabernacle.”

 

3. Salad luncheon

Bear Lake Concordia Lutheran Church will host a salad luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, 15554 690th Ave.

Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children ages 5 to 10 and free for preschool age. Proceeds will go to the Alden Area Food Shelf and the Albert Lea Salvation Army food shelf.

There will be salads, cold ham or turkey sandwiches and assorted bars available.

In addition, there will be a bake sale, garden produce and crafts.

 

4. Golfing for the Gospel

Enjoy time golfing, eating and taking part in other activities as part of a fundraiser Saturday at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club to benefit three area charities.

Golfing for the Gospel begins at 8 a.m. with a best shot golf tournament. Children’s and family activities run from 10 a.m. to noon, and lunch is served from noon to 1 p.m. Shortly after lunch, Chris Utz, physical therapist for Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea and Austin, will speak.

Organizers hope the event can help build the community. Charities to benefit are The Arc of Freeborn County, the Salvation Army and Youth For Christ’s The Rock.

 

5. Movie in the Park

The city of Albert Lea will sponsor the movie “Coco” at the Edgewater Park bandshell from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday.

Take a seat on a bench or bring your own seating to enjoy the movie. The film is rated PG.
