The Albert Lea girls’ swim and dive team traveled to Owatonna Thursday night in search of its first team win of the season.

Even with some strong finishes in a number of races, the Tigers came up just short, losing to the Huskies 94-83.

Senior Emily Taylor had a strong night for Albert Lea, taking first place in both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle with times of 26.33 and 57.09, respectively.

Sophomore Jaeda Koziolek also took home a first-place finish by winning the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.08.

The Tigers had four events finish in second place at the meet, including Koziolek in the 200-yard freestyle (2:11.58) and freshman Taya Jeffrey in the 100-yard butterfly (1:17.86). The 200-yard medley team of Jeffrey, Taylor, Koziolek and freshman Brooke Hanson took second place with time of 2:02.58.

The relatively young team of eighth-grader Ava Troster, freshmen Aliyah Studier and Leah Rognes, and junior Odelia Jensen finished in second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 2:02.89.

Another notable Tigers finish was Jeffrey taking third in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:48.20.

The Tigers fall to 0-4 on the season and will be back in the pool Thursday when they host the Winhawks of Winona in their first home meet of the season.
