ACT to open 54th season with the play ‘Forbidden Broadway’

Albert Lea Community Theatre will open its 54th season with “Forbidden Broadway” Oct. 18 to Oct 27 at Marion Ross Performing Arts Center.

In the long-running off-Broadway hit musical revue, Broadway’s greatest musical legends meet Broadway’s greatest satirist in this hilarious, loving and endlessly entertaining tribute to some of the theater’s greatest stars and songwriters, according to a press release. Performers will parody show tunes, actors, characters and plots of some of Broadway’s biggest hits, such as “Chicago,” “Annie,” “Wicked,” “Into the Woods,” “Spamalot,” “Mamma Mia” and more.

Cast members are Andrew Anderson, Rachel Cole, Jill Malepsy, Jenni Martin, Brian Mattson, Mollie Mickelson, Kyle Nelson, Logan Peterson, Tony Segura and Michelle Supalla.

“Forbidden Broadway,” directed by Rory Mattson with music direction by Barb Lang, will be performed Oct. 18 to Oct. 21 and Oct. 24 to Oct. 27 at Marion Ross Performing Arts Center in downtown Albert Lea. Shows start at 7:30 p.m., with the Oct. 21 matinee at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets may be purchased over the phone by calling 1-877-730-3144, online at actonbroadway.com or at the box office, which opens weekdays at 9 a.m. Tickets are also available at the Albert Lea Convention & Visitors Bureau. ACT season tickets can be purchased until Oct. 27.
