A private, family service will take place for Dolores “Dode” Borland, 91, of Albert Lea.

Dode died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, at Oak Park Place in Albert Lea.

Dolores “Dode” Carmel Borland was born Dec. 7, 1926, in Ashland, Wisconsin, the daughter of Carl and Alma (Olson) Larson. She grew up in Ashland, graduating from Ashland High School. During high school she was a journalist for the Ashland newspaper. She went on to attend beauty school in Minneapolis.

On Dec. 11, 1947, she was united in marriage to T. Dean Borland in The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. In 1968 the couple moved to Rochester and then returned to Albert Lea in 2004. She enjoyed reading, playing golf, dancing and traveling. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.

Dode is survived by her children Dale Borland, Marsha (Borland) Kranebell, LoJean Borland and Scott Borland; grandchild, Chad (Nikki) Kranebell; and great-grandchildren Jackson Kranebell and Audrey Kranebell.

Dode was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister, Merle DeHate.
