Janet Rainey, 1942-2018

Memorial services for Janet D. Rainey, 76, of Wells will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester. The Rev. Kris Ferkin will officiate. Interment will be at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.

Janet died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018, at Parkview Care Center in Wells.
Janet Darlene Rainey was born Jan. 6, 1942, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Orlando and Marjorie (Martens) Seltun. She graduated from Kiester High School in 1960. Janet raised her four children in Kiester and worked as a press operator for 33 years at Fleet Guard/Cummings Engine. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester.
Janet enjoyed photography, art, gambling and collecting jewelry and music. She loved to browse the internet, particularly shopping on eBay and playing computer games. Family was very important to Janet.
Janet is survived by her children Lowell Rainey of Britt, Iowa, Paula (Greg) Carroll of Kiester, Elizabeth Rainey (significant other, Mark Kuhn) of Crystal Lake, Iowa, and Lee Rainey and his wife of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren Christopher Hamson of Kiester, Joanna Carroll of Easton, Jordan Houg (significant other, Katlin Cordes) of New Ulm and Mitchell Rainey of Ames, Iowa; great-grandsons Carter Hamson and Emmett Hamson, both of Kiester; and aunt, Pat Martens, of Roland, Iowa.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; uncles Doc Seltun, Marvin Seltun, Earl Seltun, Stanley Seltun and Lars Martens; former husband, Lowell Rainey Sr.; and aunt, Ardis Seltun.
Janet’s family would like to thank everyone for coming to celebrate her life and expressing their sympathies during this difficult time.
