Letter: Your voice is what matters

Hello, my name is Al “Minnow” Brooks, and I am your current councilman for the 6th Ward in Albert Lea. When you read this, all the pre-questions and forums will be complete. At times I have been asked why I haven’t had as much exposure or that my answers have not been as in-depth as others. With 20 years of experience, I have learned how to be a voice for you and how to be the best voice for you. A good man I respected very much and who held the honor of being your 6th Ward councilman for 28 years — yep, 28 years — told me when I started, “Minnow, if you really listen to your people in your ward, and try to do your best for them, they will know you care.” I have done my best in that. I don’t believe in saying I can get this done guaranteed and possibly make promises I can’t keep. We have a lot on our plates in front of us as a community. We’re not always going to agree on everything, but my hope is that the 20 years you have given me the privilege of thus far is because you do believe I listen and care and truly feel your voice needs to be heard in City Hall. This is why I am asking for your support and honor of serving the 6th Ward for the next four years.
