6 Vikings named to All-District first teams

The Northwood-Kensett football team had 10 players named to the eigh-player District 2 All-District team including six to the first team.
The Vikings were tied in the district with Don Bosco and Rockford with the most players named to the first team.
Seniors Gavin Varner, Lane Anderson and Samuel Kliment, juniors Caden Schrage and Gideon Rollene and freshman Kyle Nichols were the Vikings selected to the first team. Varner was also awarded the district’s Defensive Player of the Year honor. Nichols was the sole freshman voted onto the first team list.
Senior defensive back Marquise Berry and senior quarterback Logan Benjegerdes were selected for the second team, while senior tight-end Nathan Cordle and senior lineman Brock Nelson were named honorable mention.
Six players were also named to the Academic All-District team. Seniors Cordle, Kliment, Nelson and Ethan Welch, and juniors Schrage and Ross DeArmoun were picked for the honor.
The Vikings finished the season with an 8-2 record with losses to state runner-up Rockford and Ar-We-Va in the first round of the playoffs.
