Albert Lea and much of south-central Minnesota are under a winter storm watch this weekend as heavy snow is expected along the Interstate 90 corridor.
The National Weather Service has stated accumulations of up to 8 inches are possible. A mix of freezing rain and snow Saturday morning is expected to transition to heavy snow Saturday afternoon and continue through Sunday morning.
Southern Minnesota is expected to see the largest impacts from the storm.
The weather agency states wind gusts as high as 35 mph will lead to some blowing and drifting snow, which could lead to difficult travel conditions, especially along the I-90 corridor and along I-35 south of the Twin Cities to the Iowa border.
