Shirlee Jelle, 1935-2018

Shirlee Katherine Jelle, 82, of Albert Lea, formerly of Bricelyn, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at South Blue Earth Lutheran Church in Seely Township, Faribault County. The Rev. Arne Halbakken will officiate. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church Saturday. Interment will be at South Blue Earth Lutheran Cemetery. Shirlee Jelle

Shirlee Katherine was born Dec. 7, 1935, in Walnut Lake Township, the daughter of Edward and Katherine (Hubbard) Kern. Shirlee was united in marriage to Myron Jelle on Dec. 1, 1956, in Easton. Shirlee worked as a legal secretary, a bank teller, sold Avon for a few years, was a secretary for American Amaranth and filled in at Jack Peterson’s vet office. She was a longtime member of South Blue Earth Lutheran Church.

She participated in Ladies Aid, Circle, LDR, quilting, the fall sale, Hanging of the Greens for the Advent Party, Klub supper and various other church activities. Shirlee loved to travel, read, watch her grandkids’ sporting events and activities, drink coffee and visit with family and friends, and make quilts for her family.

Shirlee is survived by her two children, Steven (Renae) Jelle of Lakeville and Ann (Bruce) Lachney of Eatonville, Washington; grandchildren Bailey (Owen) Kinsky, Max (Nicole) Jelle, Garrett (Ashley) Lachney and Sheridan (Tyler) Whitworth; brother, John (Kathy) Kern, of Marion, Iowa; brother-in-law, David Lennon; sisters-in-law Burnette Loge and Caroline Jelle; and many other relatives and friends.

Shirlee is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Myron; an infant daughter; and sisters Karen Lennon and Judy Russell.
