Katherine Haberman, 1945-2018

Katherine B. Haberman of Owatonna died Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, at Brookdale Senior Living in Owatonna. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna. Friends may greet the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brick-Meger Funeral Home one hour before the funeral liturgy Friday at the church.

Kathy was born April 17, 1945, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Paul and Bertha (Anderson) Sipple. She attended high school in Albert Lea and was a member of the graduating class of 1963. She attended St. Mary’s nursing school in Rochester, where she received her licensed practical nurse degree. She worked at St. Marys hospital following her graduation. Kathy was united in marriage to Tom Haberman on Jan. 8, 1966, at St. Theodore’s Catholic Church in Albert Lea. The couple made their home on a farm in Somerset Township.

Kathy worked as a nurse at Owatonna Hospital for 21 years. She later provide home health care and hospice service for several years.

Kathy worked alongside her husband on the farm. Kathy retired from nursing in 2011. She was a member of Town and Country Gals and Sacred Heart Church. Life interests include reading, putting puzzles together and decorating her house for all holidays, and traveling with her husband was a highlight of her life. She will be remembered as a great host and always willing to open her house to family and friends.

Kathy will be missed by her husband, Tom; son, Daniel (Katie) Haberman, and their children Abby and Ryan; daughter, Susan (Curt) Stakston, and their children Parker and Sophia; and one brother, Richard Sipple, of Albert Lea; and her special friend, Joy Jones.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Ann Bartholome.
