Roger graduated from Ellendale High School with the class of 1944. He was united in marriage to Joyce Pestorious on July 1, 1951. They shared 67 years together.

Roger was drafted and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He farmed his whole life and enjoyed drives to check on his boys and the status of the crops.

He was a lifelong member of Community Lutheran Church, where he was baptized, confirmed and married.

Although farming kept him busy, he still enjoyed fishing and a good game of golf.

His most enjoyable time was that spent with his grandchildren. He loved to listen to their dreams, goals and accomplishments. They were his pride and joy and he loved them unconditionally.

Roger had a great passion for travel, and he and Joyce were fortunate to see many places: Singapore, Alaska, Panama Canal, Hawaii, London and Scotland, to name a few. They also enjoyed many winters near Naples, Florida, and later in Palm Desert, Arizona, and Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce; children Jeffrey (Kathy) Wayne, Susan (George) Stieglbauer and Rodney (Dana) Wayne, all of Geneva; son-in-law, Dean Pospesel, of Wayzata; grandchildren Geoffrey Stieglbauer, Justin (Brittany) Stieglbauer, Cole (Allison) Pospesel, Ava and Blaire Pospesel, Jessica (Matt) Nielsen, Trisha Wayne, Remi Wayne, Alexis (Derek) Bartness, Taylar Tiescotter, Kate (Artem) Bunin, Emily Laudon, Derek (Lisa) Reichl, Aaron (Dawn) Reichl and Justin (Donna) Reichl; great-granddaughter, Skylar Nielsen; sisters Elaine Dimmel of Spokane, Washington, and Sharon Uptadel of Geneva; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Edith Wayne; daughter, Jeanette Pospesel; daughter-in-law, Claudia Wayne; brother, Warren Wayne; and brothers-in-law LuVerne Utpadel and Ross Dimmel.
