Marvin John Ellingson, 82, of Austin passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Marvin was born Oct. 18, 1936, in Kasson to Sanford and Ella (Stark) Ellingson. He grew up in Dexter and graduated from Austin High School. He served in the Army for two years. Marvin married Elaine Richardson (Mucha) May 21, 1960. They had five children; they later divorced.

After dating for 21 years, he married Corliss Wagner on Feb. 14, 2009.  Together they enjoyed attending car shows, stock car races, auctions and many motorcycle rides. 

In his younger years he farmed with his dad on the family farm in Dexter. “Hillbilly” was an owner operator of Ellingson Trucking for 45 years and loved his time on the road. Marvin loved spending time with his many friends; he couldn’t go anywhere without running into a familiar face. He was a wonderful dad and you could count on a weekly call or for him to drop in for a visit. He loved each and every one of his grandchildren with his whole heart and was a kid at heart when he was around them.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Corliss; brothers Stuart (Kaye) Ellingson and Ellsworth (Ann) Ellingson; five children, Richard (Brenda) of Waltham, Steven Ellingson of Austin, Susan (Todd) Haroldson of Albert Lea, Sheri (Scott) Oakland of Brownsdale and Kristine (Sean) Brink of Albert Lea; stepdaughter, Lorri (Matt) Talberg; 13 grandchildren, Amanda, Melissa, Jeff, Samantha, Naomi, Stephanie, Jessie, Aronn, Tyler, Jackie, Elisa, Kameron and Nicholas; and 11 great-grandchildren. 

“We know your time on earth is finished and you are in heaven driving a semi, driving through unlimited car lots and taking long Harley rides, but you will be missed by so many!” his family said.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at United Methodist Church in Brownsdale. The Rev. Lisa Vick will officiate. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church Sunday.
