MINNEAPOLIS — A Minneapolis man has pleaded guilty to strangling his wife with a cellphone cord after she said she was going to leave him.
Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said Thursday that 57-year-old Tony Le pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, the only charge against him.
In court, Le’s attorney said he would argue for a sentence less than recommended under Minnesota sentencing guidelines at Le’s sentencing Feb. 12. Prosecutors plan to seek the recommended sentence of more than 25 years in prison.
Le testified that his wife, 48-year-old My Huong Huynh Truong, returned home from a party on Sept. 25, 2017, and told him she had a new boyfriend. Le said while his wife was in the bathroom, he grabbed a cellphone cord , put it around her neck and strangled her.
