A former Albert Lea resident is featuring otherpeople from Albert Lea in a portrait series on display at the Owatonna Art Center.
Ann Magnusson, now working out of the Twin Cities, is featuring paintings from “Interiors and Portraits,” a series funded through an Arts Initiative Grant. According to an artist’s statement supplied by the Owatonna Arts Center, she spent the first four years of the series focusing on Twin Cities Metro participants. She began her focus on subjects from southern Minnesota — and from the Owatonna and Albert Lea communities — last year.
“My painting series, ‘Interiors and Portraits,’ is an examination of what we collect, value and choose to surround ourselves with in our private spaces,” Magnusson said in the statement.
The exhibit reception is from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Owatonna Arts Center, 435 Garden View Lane. The exhibit opened Sunday and will stay that way through Feb. 24.
Magnusson’s work will display alongside fellow artist Kathy Mommsen.
