Forklift fire reported at Alamco

A forklift was reported destroyed from a fire Wednesday morning at Alamco Wood Products.

The fire was is estimated to have caused $20,000 in damage, according to a news release.

No injuries were reported. The staff member on the forklift reportedly quickly jumped off the lift and called 911.

The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.

The Albert Lea Fire Department was dispatched to the fire at approximately 10:05 a.m.

“Upon arrival, crews found a propane forklift just inside the overhead doorway to a sawdust building where the manufacturing dust is collected,” the release states. “The forklift engine area was fully involved in fire and propane was blowing. Fire crews extinguished the fire quickly using dry chemical and firefighting foam.”

The building was not damaged, according to the release.

Fire crews cleared the scene at approximately 11 a.m. 

 

Thefts reported

A theft of $400 worth of hand tools from an outdoor shed was filed at 7:13 p.m. Tuesday at 86155 225th St. in the Oakland area. A possible suspect was identified.

Identity theft was reported at 12:39 p.m. Tuesday at 105 Ridge Road.

 

1 cited for vaping pen possession

Albert Lea police cited a juvenile for vaping pen possession at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Southwest Middle School, 1601 W. Main St.
