The National Weather Service states a winter weather advisory is in effect this afternoon for southern Minnesota, where snow will develop this afternoon. Freezing drizzle is possible along the Interstate 90 corridor.

Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches and ice accumulations of around one-tenth of an inch are expected. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.

The weather agency states people should plan on slippery road conditions and reduced visibility because of blowing snow.

Wind chills are also expected to dip to 30 degrees below zero.
