Maynard Stenzel, 1940-2019

Maynard Andrew Stenzel, 79, of New Richland died Wednesday, March 13, 2019. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. The Rev. Matt Fasnacht will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Maynard Stenzel

Maynard was born March 13, 1940, in Carlston Township, Freeborn County, the son of Andrew P. and Cleo A. (Swehla) Stenzel. He was united in marriage to Syvilla Marie Mills on Aug. 19, 1961, at St. Casimir Church in Wells. To this union five children were born.

The couple enjoyed card clubs and going south in the winter to Florida. Maynard liked watching the birds, collecting stamps and coins. He spent his time mowing the lawn, raising livestock, repairing equipment, checking the crops and fishing. He loved getting together with his kids and grandkids, and you could always find him with a piece of candy. Maynard was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells.

Maynard is survived by his children Dawn (Gary) Strohman of Makinen, Donna Kay Stenzel of Sarasota, Florida, Jarrod (Kelly) Stenzel of Rosemount, Dayna Besser of New Richland and Jason (Stacy) Stenzel of Waseca; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings Howard (Patricia) Stenzel of Blaine and Kay (Tom) Sherratt of Le Sueur; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Syvilla; great-grandson, Jeremiah Meza; and brother, Roger.
