Waseca County braces for flooding, sandbags available to residents

In preparation for potential flooding during the spring thaw, the Office of Emergency Management, along with county and city staff, will have sandbags and sand available at no cost to residents who reside within Waseca County, including the cities of Janesville, New Richland, Waldorf and Waseca.

According to a press release, sandbags and sand will be available at the temporary Waseca County solid waste and recycling site at Waseca County Fairgrounds. Residents are required to bring their own shovels, manpower and transportation for sandbags and are asked to use the Third Street Northeast entrance to the fairgrounds.

The hours of operation for the site are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to noon Saturday.
