Freeborn County Engineer Sue Miller announced weight restrictions on county highways will become effective today, according to a press release.

Weight limit signs will be placed on all bituminous surfaced and concrete surfaced highways in the county. Although no signs will be placed on gravel surfaced roads, they are by law restricted to 5 tons axle weight.

All area residents are asked to cooperate in this effort to preserve the county highway system.
