Annette Hagen, 1941-2019

Memorial services for Annette Marie Hagen will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bonnerup Funeral Services in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea.

Annette passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea. She was 77.

Annette was born Dec. 3, 1941, in Albert Lea to Chessle and Beverly (Means) Boone. She grew up in Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School. Just after her 17th birthday, Annette was married to Dellan Hagen in Glenville.

Annette provided day care for many area children. She also worked at St. John’s Lutheran Community and Walmart. Most notably, Annette owned and operated Julio’s Bar in Hayward with her husband, Dellan. Together the couple also enjoyed their memories made from many motorcycle and camping trips and dancing on weekends.

Annette was known for her sewing abilities, creating numerous quilts and many wardrobe pieces for her family members. In 2009 Annette suffered some major health difficulties, but courageously battled through her recovery. Her family will remember her for her strong will and unwavering love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Annette is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dellan; children Julie (Barry) Hahn, of Alta, Iowa, Danelle (Ron) Zimmerman of St. Cloud, Brian (Kristi) Hagen of Albert Lea, Stephanie Hagen of Albert Lea and Jordan (Cody) Elias of Cleveland; grandchildren Cory Zimmerman, Ashley Hagen, Brett Hahn, Casey Zimmerman, Aaron Hagen, Kelsey Zimmerman, Dixie Murl, Ethan Hagen, Dusty Murl, Kyrie Murl and Cassidy Murl; great-grandchildren Maliah and Braxton Elias, Milo and Chandler Miller and Violet Hagen; siblings Pat (Tom) Gilderhus of Spencer, Iowa, Connie Wadding of Albert Lea and Dennis (Becky) Boone of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Betty Hanna, of Lake Mills, Elwood (Marlys) Hagen of Albert Lea, Nylene (Gilman) Thompson of Twin Lakes, Glen (Louise) Hagen of Albert Lea, Nola Thibodeau of Fremont, Nebraska, Bernette Nelson of Wells, Bernard (Cheryl) Hagen of Albert Lea, Evelyn Hagen of Albert Lea and Marlys Rooker of Minneapolis; and many nieces and nephews.

Annette was preceded in death by her parents Chessle and Beverly and many other relatives.
