Where art is shared, celebrated and taught will be the theme for the upcoming art expo scheduled from April 26-28 in Wells, according to a press release.

Area residents will have the opportunity to bring in their original artwork to the Wells Community Center from noon to 5 p.m. April 24-26.

According to the press release, each piece will be registered, numbered, labeled and catalogued before it goes on display for the weekend.

The exhibitor’s reception will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Live music and refreshments will be available during the event, which will be free for exhibitors and $5 for the public to attend.

There will be free art demonstrations in the large west art gallery from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The demonstrations are free to the public and no registration is required. Presenters will be Julie Forderer, Yvonne Cory, Gerry Baynard, Lea Nowak, Trish Mayer and Katy Schmitz.

Demonstration topics covered will be torn paper art, gesso pictures, clay polymer, poured acrylics, dyed tissue paper art, mixed media collage, fabric flowers and how to draw pictures using scaled enlargement. Demonstrations will last 15 to 20 minutes and will be repeated throughout the day.

Art class will be taught throughout the weekend, as well.

Christina Wood Wilson will teach her first painting class from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. Registration for all of her classes can be done online at christinawilsonart.com.

There will also be many opportunities to visit with the artists, view their work and learn about a new art form.
