Carol Brudvig, 1931-2019

Carol M. Brudvig, 87, of rural Lake Mills died peacefully Easter Sunday morning, April 21, 2019, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Scarville Synod Lutheran Church in Scarville, Iowa. The Rev. Joshua Skogen will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the church Saturday. Burial will take place in the Scarville Synod Lutheran Cemetery in rural Scarville.

Carol Mamie (Anderson) Brudvig was born April 29, 1931, in Freeborn County to parents Helmer and Lena (Leegaard) Anderson. She was baptized June 7, 1931, at Silver Lake Lutheran Church in rural Northwood, and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Carol attended and graduated from Albert Lea High School in Albert Lea.

On June 26, 1953, she was united in marriage with Erling O. Brudvig at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The couple, blessed with a daughter, Clarice, made their home on their farm northwest of Lake Mills, where they had remained since. She and Erling were able to winter in Mesa, Arizona, regularly for almost 30 years.

Carol was an active member of Scarville Synod Lutheran Church, was involved with the ladies aide and Dorcas Society, was a farm wife and homemaker, and found enjoyment cooking. She studied the Bible daily. She was a kind and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband, Erling, of Lake Mills; daughter, Clarice (Kim) Olson, of Woodbury; five grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, Luke, Benjamin and Elza Olson, all of Woodbury; sister, Mavis Klouse, of Austin; sister-in-law, Nina Anderson, of Ellendale; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harlan Anderson; and three sisters, Myrtle Berge, Lillian Pixley and Laurene Groe.
