Home damaged by fire

An overheated ceiling bath fan reportedly led to an attic fire Friday afternoon at 2009 Greenwood Drive.

According to the Albert Lea Fire Department, dispatchers received a call at 12:30 p.m. for a report of light smoke in the home. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, limiting the damage in the attic.

Damage estimates are about $4,000. No injuries were reported.

The report stated the fan overheated, igniting insulation near it in the attic.

The Fire Department reminded residents that bath fans are designed to run for only a limited time.

 

Man arrested for drunk driving

Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Lee Thomas Huston, 28, for third-degree driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a .08 blood alcohol content or more within two hours, driving after revocation, expired registration and speeding after a traffic stop at 2:57 a.m. Friday near the intersection of East Clark and East Main streets in Albert Lea.

 

Identity theft reported

Identity theft was reported at 10:19 a.m. Thursday in Freeborn.

 

Juvenile cited for tobacco

A juvenile female was reportedly cited for possession of tobacco at 10:12 a.m. Thursday at Albert Lea High School, 2000 Tiger Lane.

 

Break-in reported

A break-in was reported at 2:42 p.m. Thursday at 133 W. William St. The incident reportedly took place within the last couple days.

 

1 arrested on warrant

Police arrested Satera Marie Kontz on an arrest warrant at 9:12 p.m. Thursday at 2102 E. Main St.
