John died Thursday, April 11, 2019.

John Phillip Reiss was born Sept. 17, 1932, in DuQuoin, Illinois, the son of Harry and Sarah (Ryals) Reiss. He grew up and attended school in DuQuoin.

On May 1, 1955, John was united in marriage to Ardine Albertsen in Moose Lake.

John retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving for 22 years, 6 months and 28 days, which included time in Korea, as well as Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

John was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. and the Military Order of the Cootie. He enjoyed being busy with anything to keep him occupied.

John is survived by his wife, Ardine Reiss; children Brenda Hoffman, John C. Reiss and Sherri King; grandchildren Cara Plemmons, Nick Hoffman and Trevor Reiss; great-grandchildren Nathan Plemmons, Christopher Plemmons, Wesley Plemmons, Jaena Tenore, Austin Reiss and Lucy Reiss; siblings Harriet Ritter and Judy Behnke; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents Wheeler Duckworth and Sarah Ryals Duckworth; and brother, Robert Duckworth.
