Letter: All life is sacred and a gift of God

Our family recently went to the movie “Unplanned.” It is the story of Abby Johnson, a former abortion clinic director for Planned Parenthood in Bryan, Texas. I say “former” because Abby was so sickened by what she experienced in that so-called-woman’s “health care” clinic, that she walked out and literally joined the pro-life movement the same day.

To say this movie is a game-changer is an understatement. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend that you do so. Of course, the Planned Parenthood smear machine, with the help of spineless politicians and the media, is in full swing to destroy the credibility of this powerful movie. Don’t buy their lies. With the help of over 500 former abortion clinic workers as well as many women who regret their abortions, this evil industry is being exposed for what it really is, and it sure isn’t women’s health care.

On Jan. 22, the 46th anniversary of The Roe v. Wade decision, which legalized abortion, Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York signed the Reproductive Health Act, which widely expands abortion rights in his state. This was met with cheering from legislators and pink lights being lit on the Freedom Tower to celebrate. This insane law now guarantees that if a child survives an abortion, it can be left to die without any medical help from a physician. In fact, it will now allow non-doctors to conduct abortions until the mother’s due date if the woman’s health is endangered or the fetus is not viable. But who decides what “endangered” is or what is meant by a not “viable” fetus? Endangered health could mean just about anything, including mental anguish. It is broadly defined on purpose.

A recent Marist poll concluded that a vast majority of Americans want no part of this extremist abortion policy. In fact, many Democrats were opposed, along with a very large majority of young people. This does not bode well for the Democratic Party, whose rabid support for abortion rights has gone off the charts. We are a better country than this, and we must not buy the lie that abortion is health care. All life is sacred and is a gift of God.
