The Albert Lea baseball team picked up its third win of the season Thursday on the road against Rochester John Marshall.
The Tigers won a close battle, 4-3, over the Rockets behind a strong complete-game pitching performance from junior Koby Hendrikson.
Hendrickson picked up his first win in his second start of the season. He threw all seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits while walking one and striking out two.
Seniors Carter Simon and Drake Dawson had big nights at the plate, each recording two hits. Simon also hit in two runs with a triple and scored a run himself. Dawson was 2-3 with one RBI.
“Terrific pitching performance by Koby,” said head coach Sean Gaston. “He really battled hard and grounded out a win. We made some terrific defensive plays by Carson Goodell, Ian Ball, Parker Andersen and Carter Simon. Offensively, it was a team effort with timely hits from Simon and Dawson. It’s always great to win the week and it gives us a good feeling into this little break before a busy week coming up.”
The Tigers move to 3-2 on the season and have three home games next week, starting with Rochester Mayo on Tuesday. They will then host Faribault on Thursday and Waseca on Friday.
