James Koziolek, 1936-2019

Funeral services for James J. Koziolek, 83, of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Kurt Farrell will officiate. Interment will be at Owatonna Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Friday. James Koziolek

James died Monday, May 27, 2019, at his home.

James Joseph Koziolek was born March 28, 1936, in Wells, the son of Stanley and Agnes (Klocek) Koziolek. He attended several years of parochial school in Wells until the family moved to New Richland, where he graduated from New Richland High School.

On April 23, 1957, James was united in marriage to Carol Ann Moen at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Owatonna. He farmed until 1969 and worked at Wilson & Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his sons and grandchildren. James was a huge fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins. He was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and the National Rifle Association.

James is survived by four sons, Michael and his wife, Jean Koziolek, and their children Anthony (Jenny) Koziolek and Korey (Amanda) Koziolek, Richard and his wife, Deb Koziolek, and their children Amber (Zach) Crail and Ashley (Josh) Tupa, Charles and his wife, Jackie Koziolek, and their children Erica Koziolek and Zachary (Lucy) Koziolek, and Brian and his wife, Kerry Koziolek, and their children Brady and Kelsey; daughter, Barbara Koziolek, of Faribault; great-grandchildren Victoria and Ethan Koziolek, Riley and Boston Koziolek, Faith, Payton, Jackson and J.J. Tupa, and Blake and Ellie Ball; sisters Betty Gavle and Lorraine Wallace; sister-in-law, Judy Koziolek; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; two infant sons; brother, Marvin Koziolek; brothers-in-law Lloyd Gavle and Don Wallace; and several nieces and nephews.
