Worth County Fair returns with fan favorites

Published 7:40 pm Tuesday, June 18, 2019

NORTHWOOD — The Worth County Fair will take over once again this year at the Worth County Fairgrounds in Northwood. This year the fair will run Wednesday through Sunday. Weekly passes are $20, day passes are $10 and children 5 years old and younger get in free. Saturday will be veterans and seniors day, with admission being $5 for those parties.

Major events will be returning fan favorites, such as the rodeo Thursday, the lumberjack show Friday, the tractor pull Saturday and the demo derby Sunday. Swifty Swine racing pigs will have five shows each day at the fair. The Ninja Experience will have multiple shows throughout the fair, as will Matt’s Family Jam and Nick’s Kid’s Show. There will be a baby contest this year on Sunday.

Other events include the yearly 4-H exhibits and judging, agri-puppets, caricature drawing, a balloon artist and carnival rides.

The 4-H exhibits have opened. The carnival rides will open Wednesday, which is also when the Fair Queen contest will take place, as well as a free-until-gone fair board appreciation barbecue.

On Thursday there will be a tractor-operating contest in addition to the pedal pulls and rodeo. Friday will boast face painting along with the caricatures and balloon artists starting their two-day stints, before the lumberjack show later that night. The tractor pull will close out the night Saturday. Sunday will see the baby contest, the 4-H state conference meeting and a teen dance, as well as a beef barbecue sponsored by Worth County Cattlemen.

July 5 will be filled with a pool party, a root beer garden for children and a beer garden for adults, music and more food and games. Festivities wrap up July 6 with a softball tournament, the Tune run/walk, a golf tournament, more food and games and the continuation of the root beer and beer gardens, and music provided by The Dweebs.
